2010-2011 UCC Min Bantam Playoff Champs

The Min Bantam Cyclones won the league playoff championship in a dramatic, come from behind win on Thursday, 25 March in Cardinal.

The Upper Canada Cyclones AAA minor bantam team were recently named AAA Playoff Champions for 2010-2011 after defeating the Eastern Ontario Wild AAA in the final round.

The Cyclones ended the season in third place behind the Wild and the Ottawa Senators. The Cyclones easily handled the Senators team in the first round of playoffs, defeating them 6-2, 4-1, 2-0 and 6-2. The Cyclones lost only one game in this series, 3-2.

The Cyclones were ready for the Wild and came out full force winning the opener 5-2. It was all the Cyclones from there on as they defeated the Wild 6-3 and 3-2. With the fourth game looming, the Cyclones needed only a tie to win the series and they waited until 20 seconds in the third period, with a player in the penalty box, to score the goal, tie the game, win the series and be named “Playoff Champions”.

The Cyclones draw players from numerous associations throughout the Ottawa Valley and members of this team were from Brockville, Prescott, Iroquois, Long Sault, Richmond, Metcalfe and Smiths Falls.
